Teacher's Boyfriend Proposes During School Assembly, Delighting Students
10 Nov
Summary
- Boyfriend surprises teacher with flowers and proposal during school assembly
- Students cheer and scream with excitement as the couple gets engaged
- School staff secretly planned the surprise proposal with the boyfriend

Last month, on November 6th, the staff and 650 students of Ore Valley Elementary School in York, Pennsylvania gathered for a school assembly. The assembly was part of the school's "CARES" initiative, which aims to teach students to be compassionate, accountable, respectful, ethical, and service-minded.
During the assembly, students were being recognized for their positive contributions around the school. However, the last name called was not a student's, but rather that of Abigail Herbert's boyfriend, Braydon Clancy. Clancy then walked out from behind the stage, carrying a bouquet of flowers, to the surprise and excitement of the students.
Clancy approached a visibly shocked Herbert, gave her the flowers, and then got down on one knee. He proceeded to propose, and after Herbert said "yes," the couple shared a sweet kiss as the students cheered in delight. Clancy had secretly planned the surprise proposal with the help of Herbert's co-workers, who agreed that the school assembly would be the perfect opportunity for the special moment.
This heartwarming event is the latest in a series of surprise school-based proposals, with a similar story last month of a principal in Buffalo, New York, being surprised with a wedding ceremony organized by her school's staff and students.
