Talking Pig Merlin is a Social Media Star

Merlin, a Vietnamese potbelly pig, has achieved internet stardom with over one million followers on Instagram and his unique ability to communicate using a set of pre-recorded buttons. His signature propeller hat and surprising vocabulary have earned him a Guinness World Record as the most followed pig on social media. His owner, Mina Alali, discovered a passion for animal care and social media management after a career change from the music industry.

Alali, originally pursuing music, found herself disillusioned with the industry. After adopting a bearded dragon named Mochi, whose videos went viral on TikTok, she pivoted to social media. This led to the adoption of Merlin in 2022, who quickly became a star. Alali now manages her social media full-time and volunteers at an animal rehabilitation center, aspiring to open her own sanctuary.
