The founders of the Taco Bell 50K are maintaining their plans to host the race this fall, even as the fast-food chain faces an ongoing parasite outbreak. Race co-founder Dan Zolnikov stated that participant health is paramount but expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved and the source identified well before the October event. He anticipates some runners might be hesitant to sign up initially, potentially impacting Taco Bell's reputation temporarily.

Meanwhile, co-founder Jason Romero is continuing a hike along the Colorado Trail, with a stop at a Taco Bell planned. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating whether iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms to certain Taco Bell locations is the cause of a multi-state cyclosporiasis outbreak. Taco Bell has confirmed removing the suspected ingredient from affected restaurants during the investigation.
