Siblings Michael and Samuel Scherrer have realized their dream of building a theme park in their own backyard, creating a detailed replica of Greece in their Swiss home. This "Mini Greece" project, located in the canton of Thurgau, took approximately two years to construct and was inspired by the brothers' love for theme parks and their frequent travels to Greece.
Initially, the property was in a poor state, with an overgrown garden and a house needing renovation. The brothers meticulously transformed the space over five years, section by section. "Mini Greece" features characteristic white walls, blue doors, winding alleyways, and a taverna, designed to offer a relaxing, vacation-like atmosphere.
The creation of "Mini Greece" involved adding numerous authentic touches, such as bougainvillea plants and Ouzo bottles, to enhance its realism. The project cost roughly $12,000, excluding the substantial time and effort contributed by the brothers and their friends. Their online videos showcasing the transformation have achieved remarkable success, with one TikTok video reaching 8.6 million views.
The "Mini Greece" space, though currently private, is planned to open for select events like Halloween and Christmas annually. Additionally, private bookings for photo shoots and events are available, with future plans for a "Friends" sitcom-themed guest room by Spring 2027. The brothers have also gained international recognition, appearing on three Greek television channels, a response they found particularly meaningful.
