Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocated their children, Archie and Lilibet, to a new educational institution after only two days at their previous school. This swift change occurred last week, following initial concerns that escalated into a decision to withdraw the children. The primary reasons cited were operational security challenges during the daily school run, exacerbated by heavy traffic and the distance from their residence. The family's private security team found it difficult to maintain a secure convoy, leading to the difficult choice.

Sources close to the couple emphasized that the school itself was not the issue, and the children had enjoyed their time there. However, the practicalities of ensuring a secure daily commute necessitated the move. The Sussex children are now attending a different school after a taster session earlier this week, with Harry reportedly seen helping Lilibet settle in. A spokesperson confirmed the decision was based on security team discussions regarding practical arrangements.

This development coincides with Prince Harry's continued efforts to secure greater protection for his family in the UK. Meghan has also initiated a government-backed security review. The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) is assessing their security needs, including details of their daily routines like the school run. Harry has been advocating for the reinstatement of VIP police protection since September 2021 and has pursued legal challenges.

Security concerns had previously surfaced during the family's visit to the UK in June, when Meghan withdrew from planned public appearances due to safety worries in central London. The Sussexes had announced in August their intention to return to the UK for an extended period, leading to Archie and Lilibet's enrollment at a local school. The Duke is expected to participate in upcoming public engagements.
