- The food truck series runs through August with scheduled vendors.

Sumner is embracing the summer with a new weekly food truck event at Heritage Park. Every Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the south end of the park will feature a rotating selection of food trucks, offering a variety of culinary delights. This event series is part of the activation of the reimagined Heritage Park and Hops Alley, a pedestrian-friendly "woonerf" designed for community gatherings.
The Sumner Main Street Association and the city officially announced the recurring event in late May. The schedule includes vendors like Thai'm to Roll, La Mezcla, and Dawg Eat Dogs, with more announcements expected through August. This initiative is a key component of Sumner's "Main Street Visioning Plan," aimed at enhancing the downtown area and drawing more visitors to local businesses.
The revitalization of Heritage Park and Hops Alley involved significant investment, with costs around $8.13 million for the park and $1.58 million for Hops Alley. Funding has been supported by Pierce County Lodging Tax grants. Future phases of the project will include a playground and a community building.
