- Objections cited threats to local otters and design concerns.
- The home will be built on a spectacular Highland peninsula.

Fashion designer Stella McCartney has received approval for a £5m home on a stunning Highland peninsula after a three-year planning dispute. Concerns initially raised by opponents included potential threats to local otters and the property's modernist design.
McCartney and her husband proposed a split-level home with a turf roof and natural stone walls on a site overlooking Loch Ailort. While local councillors initially voiced concerns, amended plans addressed wildlife protection, public access, and lighting.
NatureScot confirmed they would license the plans, stipulating cameras during construction to safeguard otters. The site, historically known as Commando Rock, will feature a home designed to be environmentally sensitive and minimally visible.
The couple has emphasized their intention to reside permanently in the home, dispelling notions of it being a holiday let. They expressed gratitude for the council's support and look forward to engaging with the local community.
