More than 200 individuals representing a variety of businesses gathered for a unique charity event, 'Knot A Sport Day,' held at the University of Staffordshire this past Friday. This spirited competition saw teams vie in reimagined school sports day challenges, including the classic egg and spoon and sack races, as well as an obstacle course, dodgeball, and ultimate frisbee.
The primary objective of the event was to raise £10,000, intended to be divided equally among 10 local charitable causes. Organised by a group of Staffordshire-based businesswomen under the community interest company Knot Events, the day was designed to bring people together for fun and fundraising.
Organisers emphasized the event's focus on inclusivity, diversity, and creating a joyful atmosphere distinct from the usual business environment. Knot Events, established three years ago, has also organized other community-focused activities, such as a dance competition, with future plans including another event in November at King's Hall, Stoke.
