St Francis Dogs Home, located near Newquay, has successfully reopened its kennels, six years after they were initially closed due to essential redevelopment needs. The facility now features 10 brand-new kennels and two dedicated isolation rooms, significantly enhancing the charity's capacity to care for rescued animals.
While the charity continued its rescue efforts and rehoming throughout the closure, the new kennels offer a vital temporary solution for dogs requiring immediate attention or those not yet ready for a foster home. This development is seen as a significant achievement by the organization, aiming to improve animal welfare.
The center manager highlighted that the primary approach remains placing dogs into foster care, as it offers superior welfare and allows for better understanding of each dog's needs. However, the reopened kennels will be instrumental in managing emergencies and ensuring no dog is left without a safe place to stay.
