Michael Cullen, famously known as Speedo Mick, is preparing for what he calls his "biggest challenge" yet: a trek to Everest base camp in Nepal. Scheduled to depart for Kathmandu on November 10, he intends to brave the extreme cold, with temperatures expected to reach -10C (14F), while wearing only his trademark swimming trunks.
This daring feat is part of his plan to raise another £1 million for charities focused on mental health, disadvantaged youth, and homelessness. Cullen has already successfully raised over £1 million through previous fundraising endeavors. His post-Everest plans include a 1,000-mile walk from John O'Groats to Land's End and completing Britain's Three Peaks Challenge.
Cullen, a recipient of Liverpool's Citizen of Honour award, expressed confidence in his reception in Nepal, citing positive experiences with the French during a previous walk. The 61-year-old acknowledged the risks and the discomfort of the cold but embraces it as part of the challenge.
