In November 2025, the RSPCA Derby has completed a major renovation of its facility, which now includes a brand-new small animal unit. This new addition was officially opened in memory of a beloved dog belonging to one of the charity's celebrity patrons.
Actor Sir Tony Robinson and his wife became patrons of RSPCA Derby after adopting a West Highland white terrier named Holly Berry back in 2020. Speaking to the BBC, Sir Tony expressed his fondness for the organization, saying, "We came up here originally and found [Holly Berry] and I think the place is so wonderful."
The renovation project has also seen improvements to the kennel block and the addition of a dedicated cat quarantine room. These upgrades are part of the charity's ongoing efforts to provide the best possible care for the animals in its charge.
