A young pony named Bowie, found alone in a field with cows, has been successfully rehomed after learning to live as a horse. Initially discovered under a year old, Bowie was rescued by HorseWorld and later transferred to Blue Cross's Burford rehoming center. Upon arrival, Bowie was in poor condition with painful, matted hair and lacked basic equine social skills.
Staff at Blue Cross paired Bowie with an older horse named Rocky, who acted as a mentor, teaching Bowie how to groom and interact with other horses. This companionship significantly boosted Bowie's confidence. Later, another rescue pony, Merlin, arrived at the center. Bowie and Merlin quickly became inseparable, sharing a similar background of isolation.
When Rocky was adopted, Bowie and Merlin formed a strong bond. The center decided to rehome them together. A suitable adopter who wished to rehome two young horses fell in love with the pair, and they have now gone to their new forever home. Bowie made remarkable progress, transforming from a scared pony into a confident and settled animal.
