Summary

- They are currently safe and receiving specialized care at a shelter.

Sixteen small dogs, victims of a severe hoarding case, have been rescued and are now receiving urgent care in Newark, New Jersey. The dogs were discovered in a state of extreme neglect, with conditions suggesting neglect far beyond the owner's reported departure a month prior.
The animals required specialized attention, with many needing sedation for treatment of severely matted fur, vaccinations, and overall medical care. Shelter staff are dedicating themselves to providing the intensive support these young dogs, some only months old, desperately need.
"The condition these dogs arrived in is heartbreaking, but they are finally safe and surrounded by people who are committed to giving them the care and compassion they deserve," stated Danielle Mania, COO of Associated Humane Societies. The organization is working tirelessly to help each dog heal and prepare for future adoption.
Once the dogs are medically cleared by veterinarians, they will be ready for adoption into loving homes. The Associated Humane Societies Newark is seeking support to aid in the dogs' recovery and rehabilitation.
