Queen Camilla visits London riding school

Queen Camilla recently visited the Ebony Riding Club in Brixton, south London, where she has served as President since 2009. During her visit, she met two horses, Taylor and Margate (Maggie). Taylor is a 17-year-old fell pony that previously accompanied the late Queen Elizabeth on her daily rides with her head groom.

The club, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, works to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people aged 8 to 18 by providing access to horses. Camilla interacted with the horses, feeding them mints and expressing admiration for the initiative. She also met with pupils from Corpus Christi Primary School who are part of the center's schools' programme, learning to ride and care for horses.

The Queen observed improvements in the horses' well-being due to changes in the stables' environment and feeding methods, such as slow feeder nets. She also met volunteers who are developing a new community space and training others. Camilla presented riding awards to two young participants, Adam Bentallah and Isaiah Clayton, recognizing their dedication. Several young riders from the club have pursued careers in racing, with alumni set to join prestigious racing schools this year.
