Camilla Channels Queen Elizabeth's Vatican Style in Historic Visit
23 Oct
Summary
- Camilla, 78, wore a black dress and veil reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth's past Vatican looks
- Camilla's ensemble included a silver "raspberry pip" brooch that belonged to Queen Elizabeth
- The visit was part of King Charles and Camilla's historic meeting with Pope Leo

On October 23, 2025, Queen Camilla paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth's fashion legacy during King Charles and her historic visit to the Vatican. Camilla, 78, notably wore a black dress and matching veil, reminiscent of the looks her mother-in-law wore several decades ago during visits to the Vatican.
Camilla's silk Fiona Clare dress featured a high neckline and long sleeves, and she styled it with a silver "raspberry pip" brooch that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth. The highlight of the ensemble was the large Philip Treacy mantilla she wore, which featured dark tree leaves at the headband and flowed out into a long sheer veil around her head.
The royal couple's visit to the Vatican included an audience with Pope Leo and an ecumenical service in the Sistine Chapel. It was part of a commitment originally scheduled during Charles' visit to Rome in April, but postponed due to Pope Francis' ailing health. The visit is seen as a "significant moment" in relations between the Catholic Church and the Church of England, of which Charles is the Supreme Governor.
