A seven-year-old boy's heartfelt wish came true when Queen Camilla presented him with a medal during a Royal tea party. Rupert Williams, from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, who lives with gastrointestinal failure and haemophilia A, attended a special event at Clarence House. He had brought his own Chief Scout's Commendation medal, hoping for the Queen's personal touch.
Queen Camilla kindly pinned the medal onto Rupert's waistcoat as he sat with five other children for a treasure hunt and tea. The event was hosted by the Welsh charity Dreams And Wishes, which focuses on helping seriously ill children and their families make cherished memories. Rupert's mother shared his excitement and his curiosity about the Queen having a dragon.
The gathering at Clarence House also included a horse-drawn carriage ride down The Mall. The children participated in a prince and princess-themed treasure hunt, seeking hidden treasures. The Queen Consort actively engaged with the youngsters, ensuring everyone enjoyed the meticulously prepared tea, featuring an array of treats.
Dreams And Wishes chairman Tony Curtis expressed gratitude for the Queen's consistent support. The event concluded with each child receiving a special goodie bag. Queen Camilla offered warm farewells, giving each child a hug and a kiss, capping off a memorable occasion.
