- Destinations range from nearby hill stations to international spots like Finland and Singapore
- High airfares not deterring travelers, with demand remaining resilient

As the Diwali holidays approach, Pune residents are embracing the festive spirit by hitting the road or taking to the skies for a much-needed break. While some are opting for nearby hill stations like Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, and Karjat, others are venturing farther afield to international destinations such as Finland, Singapore, and Thailand.
Travel agents in the city report a surge in festive travel, with families increasingly blending tradition with vacation. Despite airfares being nearly 40% higher compared to last year, the demand for travel has remained resilient. Travelers are choosing destinations where the visa process is simpler, such as Finland, Manila, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
Even with the discontinuation of the direct flight from Pune to Singapore, people are still traveling to the city via Mumbai. Goa continues to be a popular domestic destination, while south India and the northeast are also drawing a good number of bookings. Some residents are opting for road trips and short villa stays as a way to avoid the stress of airports.
