Pune Neighborhoods Embrace Laxmi Pujan with Devotion and Community

On October 20, 2025, Pune residents were busy preparing for the upcoming Laxmi Pujan festival. In the peth areas, people shopped for puja essentials, picking up flowers, diyas, and incense sticks. The air was filled with the scent of ghee, marigold, and sandalwood as families returned home to begin their preparations.

Due to some ambiguity over the exact Laxmi Pujan date, some residents chose to celebrate on Monday, October 20th, while others planned to perform the puja on Tuesday, October 21st. In many neighborhoods, families gathered in the evening for the puja, sharing festive meals and exchanging sweets with their neighbors. The night was punctuated by bursts of firecrackers, although many homes kept the focus on light, prayer, and family togetherness.

Beyond decorating their own homes, Pune residents also extended the festive spirit to shared community spaces. Neighbors came together to create large, intricate rangolis, exchanging design ideas and dividing the work. Temples across the city also saw steady crowds of devotees, with many residents visiting both the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple and the Shri Mahalaxmi Mandir to seek blessings and start the Diwali celebrations on an auspicious note.
