Princess Madeleine Spearheads Efforts to Safeguard Children Worldwide

As of November 12th, 2025, Princess Madeleine of Sweden remains deeply committed to the mission of the World Childhood Foundation USA, an organization founded by her mother, Queen Silvia, in 1999. Serving as the Deputy Honorary Chair, Madeleine is bringing her perspective as a parent to the foundation's work of safeguarding children from sexual abuse and exploitation.

Earlier this year, Childhood USA released the 2025 U.S. Out of the Shadows Index, a groundbreaking report developed with Economist Impact that analyzed how all 50 states are addressing this critical issue. The data, described by Madeleine as a "wake-up call," revealed that the majority of states are failing to adequately protect children, inspiring the foundation to redouble its efforts to drive change through stronger laws, better prevention, and greater support for survivors.

Madeleine's own upbringing, learning about Childhood's work through her mother, has instilled in her a deep understanding of the importance of providing children with trusted adults they can turn to. As a parent herself, she makes it a priority to foster open communication and ensure her children know there will always be someone to listen, believe and support them - a value she hopes to impart to families across the globe.
