On St. Piran's Day, the Prince of Wales visited Gear Farm Pasty Company in Helston, Cornwall, to learn about making pasties and support communities affected by Storm Goretti. While there, he unexpectedly took a customer's order for 15 pasties over the phone, amusing onlookers. The customer, Josie Trounson, was unaware of the royal caller's identity until her collection.
The prince, the Duke of Cornwall, toured the farm and assisted in the bakery, joking about his pasty-making skills. He also planted an oak tree to mark the occasion. The visit aimed to acknowledge the resilience shown during Storm Goretti, which caused significant power outages and damage across Cornwall.
William's second engagement was at Helston community fire station. Here, he delivered 50 pasties from Gear Farm to thank emergency responders for their efforts during the storm. He met with fire service personnel, highways staff, and National Grid workers who aided in the storm's aftermath and clear-up operations.
