Pollachi Teen's Dream Realized at Coimbatore's Happy Streets Celebration

Last Sunday, November 13th, 2025, the city of Coimbatore hosted a special Children's Day edition of its popular Happy Streets event on DB Road at RS Puram. The event, which is a joint initiative by the Times of India, the city corporation, and the local police, attracted a diverse crowd of over 5,000 people from Coimbatore and nearby towns.

One of the attendees was 13-year-old Yeshwanth from Pollachi, who had been eagerly waiting to participate in Happy Streets for a long time. Yeshwanth's mother, Poornima K, brought him to the event, where he experienced various activities for the first time, such as ball spinning, which fascinated him. Excited by the experience, Yeshwanth clicked numerous photos and shared them with his friends.

Another attendee, 16-year-old Guilhermina from Brazil, was part of an exchange program and attended the event with her Indian friends. Guilhermina expressed her excitement, stating that she had never had the chance to attend events like Happy Streets in her home country. She described the event as a "beautiful convergence of diversity" where people from all walks of life shared a common spirit.

The event featured a range of onstage performances, including zumba, Beledi-Fitness dance, beatboxing, Bharatanatyam, and live music. Offstage activities included balloon painting, tattoo art, face painting, puzzle solving, origami, and emergency training for children.
