Plymouth Lights Up for Jewish Community Launch

A new community interest company, the Plymouth Jewish Community CIC, has officially launched to provide a dedicated space for Jewish culture and conversation in the city. Founded by and for Jewish people, the organization aims to foster a sense of belonging and combat feelings of isolation among residents.

The launch event was strategically timed with the Hanukkah holiday, marked by the lighting of a large menorah. Rabbi Mendy Singer led the ceremony, illuminating candles to commemorate the holiday's progression. This symbolic act of bringing light into darkness reflects the CIC's core mission.

Organizers expressed a strong desire to enhance the visibility and pride within Plymouth's Jewish community. They also highlighted the importance of building alliances and networks to ensure Jewish individuals feel safe and supported, particularly in light of recent concerning events.
