Pilot Spells 'I'm Bored' Mid-Flight
15 Jul
Summary
- Pilot expressed boredom by writing in the sky.
- The message 'I'm bored' was flown over North Wales.
- The incident occurred during a two-hour test flight.

A pilot flying a light aircraft over the North Wales coast took a unique approach to a routine test flight on Saturday. For two hours, the pilot used the aircraft's flight path to spell out the message "I'm bored." This playful maneuver was captured and made visible through an online flight-tracking service.
The aircraft, a Piper Tomahawk owned by Ravenair, departed from Liverpool around 11:30 AM. It subsequently circled areas including the Wirral peninsula, Cheshire, and North Wales before landing back in Merseyside at approximately 1:30 PM. The flight was a necessary test after a component, believed to be a cylinder, had been replaced.
Operation manager Wayne Barrett humorously suggested the pilot was indeed "a bit bored" during the test. He also noted the skillful flying required to execute the message. Despite the pilot not facing any disciplinary action, the incident has drawn considerable attention. The aircraft is now safely secured, and the pilot is reportedly on his day off.
