- Group members provide crucial support, enabling safer road crossings.
- The club fosters a strong community, offering friendship and mutual support.

A new running club in Shifnal has been described as a "game changer" by a partially sighted member who previously ran alone on repetitive routes. The Shifnal Striders, formed in April, offer a safe and inclusive environment, allowing members to explore new routes and longer distances. This newfound freedom has significantly boosted her confidence and happiness.
The group actively supports each other, particularly with road crossings, transforming a previously daunting aspect of running for visually impaired individuals. The club meets twice weekly for 5km runs, with an average of 20 participants, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere that extends beyond running.
Beyond the physical benefits, the Shifnal Striders provide a strong social network. Members connect through a chat group and social gatherings, offering mutual support and friendship. This inclusive approach ensures runners, especially women, feel safer and more motivated, even during winter months or when running at night.
