A parrot named Luna is facing potential eviction from her home in Deeping St James, Lincolnshire, following multiple complaints from neighbours. The seven-year-old double yellow-headed Amazon parrot has been accused of being noisy and intimidating, prompting intervention from the South Kesteven district council.
Owners Jim Jamieson and Donna Tibbett received a formal warning regarding Luna's behaviour in the communal garden. The council cited a breach of the tenancy agreement, which requires pets not to cause damage or affect the well-being of others. Luna must now be kept from flying freely and causing noise or aggression.
Mr. Jamieson disputes the claims of aggression, highlighting Luna's strong bond with him and her affectionate nature. While he has stopped Luna from flying freely, he is determined to fight for her right to use an outdoor cage for several hours daily. He notes that children enjoy seeing Luna, and they try to manage her outdoor time to minimize disruption.
The council stated that it has a responsibility to ensure communal areas are safe and that tenants can live without nuisance. They hope the owners will move the cages indoors to resolve the ongoing issues, emphasizing that disturbances may break the tenancy agreement conditions.
