The sale, which saw 45 collectors bid, highlights a growing market for artifacts from the artificial intelligence boom. The jacket, worn by Huang in 2023 during an event in Taipei, Taiwan, originally retailed for just under $10,000.

Sotheby's confirmed that all proceeds from the auction will support the Edge Institute, a non-profit organization committed to innovation. These funds will be allocated to fellowships, grants, and residencies to further its mission.

Huang has often referenced his distinct style, famously joking that his family dresses him. This item's sale follows a notable garment exchange with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in 2024, underscoring the unique status of such items.
