NFL Star Kelce Dishes on Thanksgiving Traditions and Turkey Preferences
4 Nov
Summary
- Kelce's wife and mother-in-law do most of the Thanksgiving cooking
- Kelce prefers fried turkey over traditional roasted turkey
- Kelce is trying to start a new tradition of cutting down the Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches on November 24, 2025, retired NFL star Jason Kelce, 37, is preparing to celebrate the holiday with his family. While Kelce's wife Kylie, 33, and her mother do most of the cooking, Kelce's own mother comes over to contribute her signature dinner rolls.
In recent years, Kelce has taken on the task of frying a turkey for the Thanksgiving feast. However, the New Heights podcast co-host admits that he is not a big fan of traditional roasted turkey, preferring the fried version for its superior moisture content. Kelce has also experimented with smoked and grilled turkey, but the fried bird remains his favorite.
Kelce is looking forward to creating new family traditions during the holiday season with his four young daughters - Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 6 months. One tradition he is trying to establish is cutting down the Christmas tree as close to Thanksgiving as possible and decorating it the next day. This ritual has not yet been fully embraced by the rest of the Kelce clan, but the retired NFL player remains determined to make it a new family custom.
