MSC Group has broken ground on Sandy Cay, a new luxury private island in The Bahamas, scheduled to open for summer 2028 sailings. Located adjacent to the popular Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Sandy Cay is being developed to offer a distinct, intimate, and elevated experience focused on wellness, relaxation, and natural surroundings. This new destination will feature pristine beaches, clear waters, curated experiences, upscale dining, and private retreats, catering to guests of MSC Cruises and the luxury line Explora Journeys.
While Ocean Cay is enhancing its family-friendly attractions with new beach activities and an adults-only retreat, Sandy Cay will lean towards seclusion and quiet luxury. Both islands, however, will share a commitment to environmental stewardship and MSC's signature hospitality. MSC continues to deepen its focus on marine conservation, evidenced by its Marine Conservation Center on Ocean Cay, which opened in 2025, and ongoing educational programs aimed at fostering ocean stewardship among younger generations.
