Nagpur erupted in festive fervor on Monday as residents welcomed Lord Ganesha, heralding the commencement of Ganeshotsav. Chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya," the resounding beat of dhol-tashas, and the scent of flowers filled the air as Ganesh Pratishthapana ceremonies took place across homes, housing societies, and public mandals.
Long queues formed at prominent temples such as Tekdi Ganesh Mandir and Adasa Ganesh Temple, where devotees sought blessings on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The festive spirit was palpable, with shrines adorned in vibrant decorations.
As the day progressed, neighborhoods became alive with the aroma of modaks and devotional music. Grand processions accompanied the deity's arrival at various mandals, while families welcomed Bappa home amidst joyful celebrations. The evenings resonated with aartis from homes and pandals.
City mandals unveiled elaborate themes this year, drawing inspiration from mythology and pilgrimage. Jaripatka featured an underwater Dwarka theme, Dakshinamurti Ganeshotsav recreated the spirit of Alandi, and Santi Ganeshotsav Mandal presented Badrinath. Pratap Nagarcha Mahaganpati showcased Mahakal's Gajraj, adding to the attractions.
Amidst Ganeshotsav, preparations are also in full swing for the Mahalaxmi festival, commencing on September 17. Demand for decorative items, jewelry, and puja essentials for Mahalaxmi, a significant family celebration in Vidarbha, is reportedly on the rise.
