Chef Prateek Sadhu's restaurant, Naar, nestled in Kasauli, has achieved the 30th spot on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list, bringing global attention to Himalayan cuisine. Translating to "fire" in Kashmiri, Naar reimagines produce and flavors from the region, exclusively sourcing ingredients locally.
Sadhu, formerly of Mumbai's innovative Masque, relocated to the hills in 2023 to pursue a more authentic culinary vision. He sought to create something closer to his personal identity, finding clarity and a unique connection with diners in the mountains.
Naar offers a distinct destination dining experience where guests travel with intention, fostering a more intimate and honest engagement. The menu evolves with the Himalayan seasons, guided by nature's rhythm, pushing culinary boundaries while honoring regional stories.
This recognition validates Sadhu's dream project, achieved by focusing on deep understanding and deliberate restraint rather than mere sophistication. Earlier this year, Sadhu also curated a Himalayan-themed state dinner for India's President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
