In September 2025, the Mysuru royal family enthusiastically participated in the private Dasara rituals, a centuries-old tradition. Last month, the family concluded these celebrations with the Vijaya Yatre, a symbolic procession led by the scion of the royal family, Yaduveer Wadiyar.
As part of the Vijayadashami festivities, which mark the victory of good over evil, Yaduveer removed his Kankana (sacred thread) and stepped out of the Mysuru Palace for the first time since the commencement of the private Dasara festival. He then performed the Shami puja at the Bhuvaneshwari temple, officially ending the private Dasara celebrations.
Prior to this, the royal family had also carried out the Ayudha Puja at the Mysuru Palace with great grandeur and devotion. This ritual involved the worship of 32 different traditional weapons, each holding historical and cultural significance, such as the royal sword from the Vijayanagara period and the sword of Ranadhira Kantheerava. The rituals showcased the rich heritage and traditions of the Mysuru royal family, adding to the ongoing Dasara festivities.
