On October 2, 2025, the city of Mohali celebrated Dussehra with great enthusiasm. Towering effigies of the mythological figures Ravan, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran were set ablaze, along with symbolic figures representing corruption and drug abuse. Adding to the spectacle, a replica of Sri Lanka was also torched, drawing huge crowds to the celebrations.
The main event was organized at the Sector 79 ground, where local MLA Kulwant Singh lit the effigies in the presence of senior police officials. The 100-foot effigy of Ravan, 75-foot Meghnad, 65-foot Kumbhkaran, and a 50-foot figure representing social evils were all consumed by the flames, accompanied by cheers and fireworks.
The festivities began with a grand procession from the temple in Sector 80, moving along Airport Road past CP-67 Mall before culminating at the Sector 79 ground. Performers dressed as Ravan and Hanuman's armies staged mock battles, while organizers ensured seating arrangements for thousands of spectators. Dussehra celebrations were held at seven locations across the city, including Sectors 70, 77, 79, 85, 105, Phase 1, and the village of Balongi.
