14 Dec
Summary
- Thomas Markle had his leg amputated after a blood clot was found.
- Meghan Markle sent her father a hand-delivered letter recently.
- Meghan has not seen her father since her 2018 wedding.

Thomas Markle, father of the Duchess of Sussex, recently underwent a life-saving leg amputation in the Philippines following the discovery of a blood clot. The 81-year-old has expressed a strong desire to reconcile with his daughter, Meghan, before his passing.
Estranged from his daughter since her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry, Thomas Markle has not seen Meghan since then. The Duchess reportedly attempted to reconnect by sending him a letter, hand-delivered by a lawyer. Despite this gesture, Meghan is believed to feel reconciliation is unlikely due to her father's ongoing media engagements.
Markle, a former Hollywood lighting director, had a close relationship with his daughter prior to their rift, which began when he collaborated with paparazzi before the Royal wedding. He has yet to meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, or his son-in-law, Prince Harry.
