In Mangaluru, a grand Shree Guru Samavesha is set to take place on February 21, 2025, to commemorate the 113th anniversary of social reformer Brahma Shree Narayana Guru's consecration of the Lord Shiva idol at Kudroli Shri Gokarnanatha Kshetra.
Narayana Guru, a prominent figure in the social and spiritual reform movement, led the way for the upliftment of backward communities and their integration into the social mainstream. The upcoming convention aims to honor his legacy and spread his teachings of equality and harmony.
Temple treasurer Padmaraj R noted that the Kudroli Shri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, established by Narayana Guru, stands as a living example of his ideals - a space free from caste discrimination and religious hatred, where all live with brotherhood. Representatives from 276 Billava organisations across India and abroad are expected to participate in the event, which is anticipated to draw over one lakh people who follow Narayana Guru's teachings.
