A 29-year-old IT worker, who only began running last year, is undertaking an extraordinary fundraising journey across all 26 counties of Ireland. Praveen Rawal's '26 Counties for Kids' challenge, set to commence on February 14, involves walking up to 13 hours daily for an estimated 27 days, covering approximately 1,500km. He is raising funds for the Children's Health Foundation, which supports children treated at Dublin's Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght, and Connolly hospitals.
Rawal's motivation stems from his own training difficulties, making him realize the immense suffering of sick children. Having completed a Dublin Marathon and discovered a passion for long-distance walking, he was inspired by a recent 36-hour trek from Mountmelick to Sligo. He hopes to raise 50,000 euro and plans to stay with supporters along his route, finding solace and connection with nature and community during his extensive walks.
