Summary
- Man attacked by pack of 7 stray dogs in Maharashtra
- Incident caught on CCTV, man defended himself with bike and wooden board
- Locals demand municipal action to control stray dog menace

Last month, a man in Maharashtra's Pimpri Chinchwad had a harrowing encounter with a pack of seven stray dogs. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, occurred around 5 AM as the man was on his way to work.
The footage shows the man walking down a dark alley when the dogs suddenly came running towards him and began attacking. The man tried to fend them off, at one point pushing a nearby bike at the animals. When the dogs continued their assault, the man grabbed a wooden board and used it to defend himself.
Nearby residents soon came out of their homes and managed to scare the dogs away, but the animals returned shortly after. This time, the man was still standing on the side of the road, ready to protect himself.

Fortunately, the dogs eventually fled the scene. However, the man sustained injuries during the attack. Local residents have now demanded that the municipal authorities take urgent action to control the stray dog menace in the area, which has become a growing concern.
The incident comes amid a nationwide debate over the rising cases of stray dog attacks leading to rabies deaths. Just last week, the Supreme Court had ordered the relocation of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR and adjoining regions, though this decision was later modified to allow the animals to be released back into the same areas after sterilization and immunization.
