Magh Mela 2026: Preparations Race Against Time
17 Dec
Summary
- Magh Mela 2026 preparations are mostly complete.
- Remaining work expected to finish by December 20.
- Land allocation and tent city construction are underway.

As the Magh Mela 2026 approaches its commencement on January 3, 2026, Prayagraj authorities report that the majority of preparatory projects are substantially finished. Departments including police, power, Jal Nigam, and PWD have largely completed their tasks, with remaining works expected to conclude by December 20, 2025.
Officials recently inspected levelling, road construction, electrification, water supply, and sewer line laying. Erosion control for ghats and the laying of HT and LT lines are also being reviewed. Significant effort is being made to increase manpower and resources to fast-track the remaining arrangements within the next few days.
Concurrent with these efforts, land allocation is ongoing, and the tent city is gradually taking shape across the seven designated sectors. Authorities are also monitoring the system implemented for treating drain water using geotubes near the Nagavasuki Temple, ensuring all environmental measures are in place before the mela begins.
