10 Oct
Summary
- Navratri celebrations in Ludhiana commence with religious rituals.
- Ram Leela performances and fairs are scheduled throughout the city.

As Ludhiana embraces the festive spirit, the city has transitioned from Shradh Paksh to Navratri celebrations. This period ushers in nine days of vibrant cultural and religious activities, including temple chants, nightly Ram Leela performances, and community fairs. The festivities officially began Saturday evening with the planting of khetri and the establishment of kalash, signifying the welcoming of Goddess Durga.
Preparations are in full swing across various city committees. The Daresi committee is organizing traditional festivities and a daily dola yatra throughout Navratri. Sarabha Nagar and Rajguru Nagar committees are also hosting nightly Ram Leela enactments, with fairs planned to coincide with the Dussehra celebrations on October 20, which will feature the burning of effigies.
Beyond these public events, temples are preparing for an influx of devotees for prayers and fasting. The Bengali community, under the Bangiya Samsad, will also celebrate Durga Puja with traditional rituals and cultural programs, adding a distinct cultural flavour to the city's festive calendar.
