A Spanish greyhound named La Gracia, rescued from a difficult past in Spain, recently escaped from a veterinary clinic in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. The dog had been admitted for treatment of a parasitic infection and kidney issues.
Her owner, Garson Hunter, embarked on an extensive three-week search in the Qu'Appelle Valley, employing various methods including camping out and setting up trail cameras. The search incurred significant costs, exceeding $7,000 for veterinary care, equipment, and specialized assistance.
Expert help was eventually sought from Quebec-based Ge Cherche Charly, which deployed volunteers and a specialized trapping mechanism. La Gracia was successfully captured and is now recovering at home, receiving round-the-clock veterinary care.
