Lost Beagle Runs Mile to Favorite Doggy Daycare

A determined beagle mix named Pete embarked on an impressive solo journey through New York City after his leash unexpectedly broke. The 1-year-old dog found himself separated from his owner in the bustling metropolis but instead of becoming distressed, Pete headed towards a familiar and safe haven.

Pete ran approximately one mile to his favorite doggy daycare, Pooch Play and Stay, located in Brooklyn. Staff and other clients were astonished when the dog arrived at the facility's entrance unaccompanied. Video footage captured Pete patiently waiting at the glass door until a staff member noticed him and allowed him inside.

Upon arrival, Pete was visibly dirty, indicating he had endured a challenging trek. The daycare staff immediately contacted his owners and gave him a bath. Pete's owners, relieved their pet was safe, picked him up the same day and took him to the veterinarian for a check-up. Thankfully, he only sustained minor scratches and was cleared to return to his beloved daycare.

Pete's remarkable self-preservation skills and knowledge of his route impressed the daycare staff, especially considering his usual fear of outside noises. He returned to daycare the following day, reportedly unfazed and happy, ultimately earning the "Dog of the Week" title for his adventurous and resourceful spirit.
