Liverpool is preparing to host its cherished annual pancake-flipping race, an event with a legacy of over four decades. Chefs representing several of the city's prominent restaurants will vie for the title of fastest pancake-flipper, earning a custom-engraved pan. The race demands participants complete two laps around the Liverpool Parish Church gardens while maintaining the toss of their pancakes.
Commentary for this year's competition will be provided by Neil Atkinson of The Anfield Wrap. Organizers, Liverpool BID Company, have confirmed two heats to establish the finalists. The event has seen its share of drama, including a past 'VAR ruling' dispute over pancake flipping technique.
Recent years saw Alex Hopkins of LunyaLita win three consecutive times, but last year, Sebastian Wojton from Ma Boyle's claimed the victory. This year's contenders include chefs from establishments such as the Hilton Hotel, Pen Factory, Crowne Plaza, and Titanic Hotel, all aiming to dethrone Ma Boyle's.
