Flavio Briatore's hospitality group, Majestas, has launched a new fine grill dining restaurant in Dubai named Lion in the Sun. Located on the 62nd floor of the Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai, the venue draws inspiration from Briatore's original retreat in Malindi, Kenya, and Karen Blixen's "Out of Africa." The restaurant, designed by architect Richard Saunders, offers a sophisticated ambiance with a capacity for 160 guests, expandable to 300 for events.
Led by Italian Tunisian celebrity chef Batuhan Piatti, the menu centers on open-fire cooking with Mediterranean influences. Signature dishes include various carpaccio preparations and seafood specialties. The interior design features a warm, earthy color palette of brown, white, and terracotta tones, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners.
Briatore expressed his deep connection to Dubai, noting the success of his previous ventures in the city. He highlighted Lion in the Sun as his most personal concept, expressing excitement about its new life in Dubai and thanking Mandarin Oriental for the partnership. The group aims to solidify its presence in Dubai's dynamic hospitality scene.
