Lauren Sánchez Bezos is enjoying a summer vacation, recently sharing a sun-drenched selfie from her getaway. The former journalist posted a black and white image on Instagram, relaxing outdoors in a swimsuit. This personal update follows closely on the heels of her and Jeff Bezos's first wedding anniversary, which they celebrated last month on June 27, 2025, in Venice, Italy.

Sánchez has also used her platform to highlight ocean conservation, particularly focusing on sharks. During a recent dive near the Galápagos Islands, she shared her experience swimming near whitetip reef sharks, noting her initial fear gave way to admiration for their peaceful nature and ecological importance.

She explained how sharks maintain reef balance and move vital nutrients across the ocean, emphasizing their resilience over millions of years. However, Sánchez also pointed out the alarming fact that over a third of shark species are now threatened with extinction. She connected this to the work of the Bezos Earth Fund, which she and her husband launched in 2020 with a $10 billion commitment to climate and nature solutions.

Through the Bezos Earth Fund, they support ocean habitat protection and local conservation efforts. Sánchez concluded by encouraging greater understanding of sharks, stating that learning about them reduces fear and reveals their incredible nature, coinciding with the start of Shark Week.
