Lalit Modi, once a prominent figure in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has opened up about his personal life, focusing on love and loss.

Modi described his first love, Minal, as a childhood friend who later became his wife. Their relationship evolved over years, overcoming a decade-long age difference and societal perceptions. He confessed to Minal his feelings in his early twenties, leading to a period of estrangement before they reconnected and married.

He acknowledged the profound impact of IPL controversies on his family, particularly during Minal's battle with cancer in 2010. His daughter moved abroad due to the relentless media scrutiny, while his son remained in India. Modi admitted he was slow to recognize the emotional toll on his family amidst his professional commitments.

In a more recent revelation, Modi addressed his relationship with Sushmita Sen, refuting 'gold digger' accusations. He highlighted Sen's independence and financial success, humorously suggesting he was the 'diamond digger' in their dynamic, emphasizing their connection was not based on money.

Following Minal's death in December 2018, reportedly due to complications from alternative treatment, Modi experienced deep grief, leading to a heart attack and subsequent depression. He found solace and companionship with Rima Bouri, a Lebanese descent woman he had known for 26 years.

Modi met Bouri two decades prior, jokingly predicting marriage, which later materialized into a relationship after significant life changes for both. He views his connection with Bouri not as a replacement for Minal, but as a new beginning that honors his past.
