Kitten Rescued After Two Weeks in Storm Drain

A three-month-old kitten, affectionately nicknamed Stormy, has been successfully rescued after spending two weeks trapped in a storm drain in Gardena. The kitten's plight became known when a local resident heard its cries, prompting calls to authorities.

Rescue efforts faced significant challenges, including a stuck manhole cover and the drain's location on private property. For two weeks, dedicated residents ensured Stormy's survival by lowering food and water into the drain.

After a breakthrough in clarifying ownership of the manhole, three contractors worked diligently for two days to open the stubborn cover. Subsequently, Gardena Animal Control officers placed a humane trap, and Stormy was safely recovered seven hours later.
