Kate Ferdinand has spoken openly about her husband Rio Ferdinand's initial lack of understanding regarding her anxiety. Speaking on the Blended podcast, Kate explained that because Rio had not experienced anxiety himself, he struggled to recognize or comprehend it. She emphasized the importance of educating partners about what anxiety can look like to foster better understanding.
Since relocating to Dubai with her family in August of the previous year, Kate has openly discussed her challenges in adapting to the new environment. She shared in a recent Instagram post that she is actively working to reduce stress and lower her cortisol levels. To achieve this, she has cut back on drinking, noting that hangovers often trigger her anxiety. Additionally, she has altered her fitness regimen, replacing high-intensity workouts with walking and Pilates.
Kate also noted a shift in her daily approach, consciously slowing down tasks rather than rushing. She recognized a long-standing habit of rushing through even simple activities, attributing it to a busy lifestyle. This realization has prompted her to actively work on moving away from a constant 'fight or flight' state. She previously admitted to struggling with being away from Rio's older sons, Lorenz and Tate, who remained in the UK for their football careers, and that the move had been emotional.
