Grief to Glory: Young Woman Achieves Railway Dream

Kalpana Prajapati, born in 2003 near Rewa, has overcome immense personal tragedy to secure a position as an Assistant Loco Pilot in the Bilaspur railway division of South East Central Railway. Her journey began with the loss of her mother shortly after birth, with her grandmother stepping in to raise her. This early experience of loss was compounded in 2024 when her father passed away from an electric shock, mere days before a critical training officer examination.

Despite these profound setbacks, Kalpana demonstrated remarkable resilience. She continued her education and preparation for the railway recruitment, taking on library work during this challenging period. Supported by her grandmother and other family members, and receiving guidance from training officer Narendra Dwivedi, she maintained her resolve. Her persistence has now culminated in her selection, with her appointment letter received and a first trial run scheduled for June 18, 2026.

Kalpana's achievement carries significant emotional weight, as she expressed that the joy would have been greater had her father been alive to witness it. Her success is celebrated not just as a personal triumph but as a testament to collective family sacrifice and unwavering faith, offering inspiration to young people facing financial or familial distress.
