Scottish fashion designer Jonathan Saunders has embarked on a new chapter as the chief creative officer of the Scandinavian brand & Other Stories, a role he assumed last year. Saunders, celebrated for dressing American superstars like Madonna and Beyoncé, as well as the Princess of Wales, has now brought his signature bright and colorful designs to the high street. The brand, which operates two stores in Scotland, launched his latest collection last week.
Saunders, who grew up in Glasgow and studied at its School of Art, has a rich history in the fashion industry. He began his career creating prints for Alexander McQueen and later established his own acclaimed brand before closing it in 2015. He expressed his enthusiasm for designing fashion for everyday wear rather than solely for the runway, highlighting the opportunity at & Other Stories to offer elevated design at an accessible price point.
His previous work as creative director for Pollini saw him design ranges for retail chains such as Target and Topshop. Saunders regularly showcased at London Fashion Week until 2008, when he transitioned to New York Fashion Week. His creations have been admired by a wide array of public figures, including Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Sienna Miller, Laura Bailey, and Michelle Obama, underscoring his broad appeal across different spheres of influence.
