James Earl of Wessex Steps into Royal Spotlight
6 Apr
Summary
- James, Earl of Wessex, played a more prominent role at the Easter service.
- He walked with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.
- Key royals like Prince Andrew were notably absent from the event.

James, Earl of Wessex, recently stepped into a more prominent position during the Royal Family's traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle. The 18-year-old walked closely behind the Prince and Princess of Wales as they arrived with other senior royals for the service. He was observed engaging in conversation with the Princess of Wales outside St George's Chapel.
The service saw the attendance of Princess Anne and her husband, but James's mother, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and his sister, Lady Louise, were absent. In contrast, the disgraced former Duke of York, Andrew, and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, were notably absent, having made alternative Easter arrangements.
Following the service, King Charles III and Queen Camilla greeted the public in a brief meet-and-greet. The Wales family and other royals also waved to well-wishers. James, who is 16th in line to the throne, is completing his A-level studies and has, until now, kept a low profile, with his future public role as a working royal remaining a subject of speculation.
