- Bihar aims for five modern crematoriums within two years.

Isha's Kayantha Sthanams have established a notable model for dignified and caring end-of-life services, contrasting with struggling public crematoriums. Emphasizing solemn social responsibility over commercialism, Isha's initiative began in Tamil Nadu in 2010. The organization now manages 33 crematoriums in the state, having conducted over 1.25 lakh cremations and recently launching free services for below-poverty-line families.
These facilities, including spaces like the Kalabhairava Dhyana Mandapam, offer a respectful atmosphere for all, irrespective of background. Complementary yogic tradition rituals, Kalabhairava Karma and Kalabhairava Shanti, aim to ease the transition for the deceased. This holistic approach ensures a peaceful final journey.
In Bihar, Isha Outreach is developing five modern crematoriums, with Baans Ghat in Patna serving as a demonstration project. These facilities, equipped with electric, wood-based, and traditional platforms, handle significant cremation volumes and are crucial for environmental conservation, particularly near the Ganga river. The Bihar projects are expected within one to two years.
This initiative extends beyond service delivery, creating stable employment and supporting staff welfare, embodying dignity for both the deceased and the workers. It represents a practical, humane, and sustainable public service system impacting families and communities.
